Spring is a cherished time of year for so many reasons. There is the anticipated arrival of longer, warmer sunlit days. Easter and Spring signify a fresh start ~ Life, Love and Peace all born anew. And, I always find myself reflecting, taking inventory of what the first part of the year has brought forth, and shedding layers that no longer serve me. It has become a recent tradition of mine to celebrate Easter Sunday hiking, because it is in the midst of nature I feel the closest to God and find my Spirit cleansed and renewed. This Easter I visited Castaic Lake. The views were breathtaking, I took much-needed time for meditation and contemplation, and found my Faith in all things strengthened.  It was what my heart and soul needed.

And then this morning, I came across this poem; DESIDERATA which in Latin means “Desired Things”, a message about being kind and honest, and to keep FAITH. This weekend was a strong reminder for me to stay Enchanted with the beauty of Life, Love and the Universe…”Because once you have learned to love, you have learned to live.”

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

And whether or not it is clear to you,

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all it’s sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Take that FIRST Step

Hello Friends! Can you believe we are already two weeks into the New Year?! I don’t know about you, but I truly needed a FRESH START! A New Year with the opportunity for New Dreams, New Goals, New Beginnings. 2012 was a truly challenging year for me in so many ways. I finally took the risk to change my profession, I had my heart broken, and I lost one of my dearest friends.  But with the challenges, the struggles, the heartache… I learned valuable lessons:  I took time for myself and I began to see things in a new light, with a new appreciation. One of my intentions for the New Year is to put my energy very deliberately into moving forward.  Taking those steps to make the changes, reach the goals, and fulfill the dreams I envision for myself.  And often times, fear of the unknown or of change makes taking that first step scary, difficult, challenging. But as this inspiring quote reminds us, “SOMETIMES THE SMALLEST STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION ENDS UP BEING THE BIGGEST STEP OF YOUR LIFE. TIP TOE IF YOU MUST, BUT TAKE THE STEP!”

Take THAT Step

So, regardless of what your goals and visions for this New Year might be: Believe in yourself and TAKE THAT FIRST STEP, even if it is a baby step! Keep your eyes, your heart and your mind open and your feet moving forward AND you will find what you need! Wishing you all a beautiful Monday and a Wonderful Week ahead!

I am truly blessed to have an amazing group of friends and loved ones who inspire me everyday! COURAGE my Love

Our lives are inevitably faced with periods of transition, adversity and challenge…that is what makes Life, Life. It is at these crossroads where you must decide to live your truth, to face your fears, and to create positive change for yourself.  Deciding which path to take on that journey can be extremely difficult and often times feelings of fear, sadness, or uncertainty take hold. I find myself in a transition period professionally, personally and emotionally; and that feeling of “not knowing” can be overwhelmingly scary. Today I am struggling to let go of something that has been a big part of my life recently, but I know in my heart it is not meant to be. So, to all of you who also need a little extra strength today….We are Beautiful Fierce Warriors and we can overcome any adversity. Listen to your heart, follow your truth, fill your soul with courage and you will find the strength to live your dreams… COURAGE MY LOVE!

Today’s post was inspired by my dear friend Mary Catherine and by new beginnings.  She left yesterday to begin a new adventure in New York City, and while I could not be happier for her, it is also very bittersweet to think I won’t be able to run down the street for a chat and a glass of wine, call her up for impromptu dance session, or meet at our favorite coffee shop on Wednesday mornings to catch up. I am so proud of her strength, her drive, and for bravely listening to her heart and following her dreams. As Goethe says, “boldness has a genius and power and magic in it.”  Go forward and be bold sweet friend…You deserve all of the wonderful, magical things that await you in New York.  And as for me, I am already planning my trip to the City to properly celebrate this amazing new chapter in her life!  Wishing you all an inspired Monday full of power, courage and light!

step out of your comfort zone

Taking steps out of your comfort zone is pivotal for your own evolution and growth. You cannot become a bigger and better version of yourself unless you are willing to stretch beyond what you already know.

Growth facilitates happiness. We experience fulfilment when we grow in ourselves. When we feel that we are progressing, evolving and becoming more, we develop a higher level of confidence and pride. This is what makes us feel alive. This is where the magic happens.

3 STEPS TO HELP YOU JUMP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

1. SAY YES, AND THEN FIGURE OUT HOW

Many of us continuously say no to opportunities that are presented which are outside our comfort zone. We may say ‘I could never do that’ without even really contemplating it. Or we use delay tactics and say ‘I am not ready yet. I need to learn more/have more money/have more experience etc. before I do that’

Get in to the habit of saying yes. Even if you have no idea how you are going to do it, just say yes and figure out how later. You are never given more than you can handle. You have attracted this opportunity because you are ready for it. It has been designed to help you grow.


2. MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR FEAR

When we experience the feeling of fear, many of us try to run away from it. We either avoid the actual activity that triggers our fear, or we do whatever we can to suppress the feeling with some other activity such as eating, watching TV, going shopping etc.

When you feel fear, sit with it. Allow yourself to experience it fully and actually determine where it is coming from. Ask yourself “What am I actually afraid of?” “What am I afraid will happen?” “What am I afraid that I will lose?”

Acknowledge your fear for what it is. It is just a feeling. It is just a feeling that has been created by what you are thinking. Once you can see it for what it is, it will lose its power. Being able to be conscious of your fears then gives you the ability to change them.


3. CHANGE YOUR STORY

If you are afraid to step out of your comfort zone, it is likely that you have created negative association with the idea of it. All successful people have found ways to feel positive and excited about stepping out of their comfort zone, rather than afraid and tentative.

Start telling a new story about what it means to live outside your comfort zone. See this situation as an amazing learning and growth opportunity. Feel excited about the fact that you will be becoming a bigger and better person.

Speak kindly to yourself, and love and support yourself unconditionally. Tell yourself positive stories about other times where you have succeeded in challenging situations. Cheer yourself on, and say ‘You can do it” or ‘I believe in you’.

Connect with why it is important for you to take this step. How will doing this help propel you towards your goal? How will it lead you towards the life of your dreams? How will it enable you to achieve everything you have ever wanted?

I was reminded by a dear friend today the importance of accepting and facing challenges. I have no doubt, that maintaining balance and peace are imperative to living a happy and fulfilled life. But, truthfully what would life be without challenges to help us grow, re-evaluate and become stronger?  Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body, and challenge brings truth to the heart. So even in the midst of a difficult time; face the challenge head on, embrace the emotions you feel, and release your fears so that you may move forward bravely.

I took a trip back home to beautiful South Carolina last week and spent an incredible 5 days with my amazing family.  While the trip was a whirlwind trying to see and spend quality time with everyone; it was a meaningful visit for me, and I truly cherished each precious moment. As I was on the plane heading back to Los Angeles, I found myself feeling incredibly blessed to have the genuine support, love, and encouragement from those who mean the most in my life.  In that moment, I was reminded of something so simple… Surround yourself with those people who want for you be truly happy and who believe in your dreams. It will make all the difference in the world.  Wishing you all a beautiful and inspired weekend full of Love + Light!
